The Pierre Governor football team fought off rainy conditions & a resilient Sturgis squad to win their regular season finale by a score of 34-14. Brevin Kaiser put the Governors on the board in the first quarter with a 49 yard touchdown. Sturgis would match the score with a Tanner Nelson 17 yard run. The Governors turned the ball over three times in the red zone & that kept the score tied at seven at the intermission.
Pierre & Sturgis would trade touchdowns to open the second half but the Governors would rush for three more scores to close out the game. Seth Neal led the Governor offense with 151 yards rushing & three touchdowns. Pierre finishes the regular season with a 7-2 record. The Governors will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs & will host the Douglas Patriots in round one on Thursday October 30th.
